Saint Marie - Home of the Adventurous
The ghostly remain of a Cold War relic. Built in 1957 as a strategic linchpin to protect America in case the Soviet Empire decided to attack America. The rational was the Soviets could fly over the North Pole and through Canada to bomb an unexpected America from the North. The Glasgow Air Force Base in conjunction an array of high powered radar stations was built to thwart such an attack.
But today the base largely sits empty...
Are the base closed the main airbase complex was purchased by the Boeing Company and is used today for product testing and training and a few adventurous folks live in some of the old base housing but large portions of the base remain abandon.
If you plan to visit please stay on the marked roads and respect private property. The abandon properties are technically private property and entering them is trespassing and is illegal. Not to mention all forms of hazards that can kill or seriously harm you also exist in the structures,
If you do want to take a close look please feel free to reach out to me via the contact form above. I would be more than happy to point you in the right direction to who you can ask to gain permission.
